M. Trinh Nguyen
M. Trinh
Nguyen was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and fled to the United States
with her family in 1975.
Trinh studied
Cinema at San Francisco State University and completed her first
film, Xích-lô (Cyclo), in 1996. Xích-lô
(Cyclo)'s national television broadcast premiere was
in August 1996, on PBS's P.O.V. program. It has also screened
in numerous festivals and venues, including the San Francisco
International Asian American Film Festival, Hong Kong International
Film Festival, International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam,
and the British Sh ort
Film Festival.
With awards
and funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the
Pacific Pioneer Fund, the Bay Area Video Coalition, the Association
for Viet Arts, and a few wonderful individuals, Trinh completed
Tiger's Apprentice in September 1998. Tiger's
Apprentice has screened at the San Francisco International
Asian American Film Festival, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film
& Video Festival, and the KPFA Documentary Festival (check
upcoming screening for future screenings and television broadcasts).
Trinh currently
has several projects in development. . .
